Photographic Restoration

Digital photo restoration uses digital image editing techniques to remove visible scratch and aging effects from snaps.

Spots are removed from the photograph physically, by painting over them carefully. Redundant color shines are detached and the image’s contrast or sharpening may be untouched in an attempt to restore some of the contrast range or detail that is supposed to be in the original image.

Photo restoration may be successful in removing or covering the following defects:

1. Staining of the photographic document due to age and chemical reaction

2. Dust and hair visible on the photograph

3. Discoloration of the feature due to desertion

4. Grates or moans on the print

5. Stains caused by bacteria

Image editing encompasses the procedure of changing images, whether they are digital snaps, traditional analog photographs. Before digital scanners and cameras became main stream, traditional analog image editing was known as photo retouching, using tools such as an airbrush to modify photographs, or editing illustrations with any traditional art medium. However, since the influx of digital images, analog image editing has become mostly outdated. Many image editing programs are also used to render or create computer art from scrape.

Let aging photos not fade your favorite memories. It could be your favorite old photo that got damaged, aged or simply the acid content in the paper, a photo that got stuck to the frame, exposure to elements- fading, a playful kid (or grown up), physical damage when you moved homes or those darn silverfish which just feed on your family treasures. We can restore the image to its original glory or improve on it. The result is archival quality
and memories that can be preserved for years to come. All we need is a good quality scan – 300 dpi is a good start.
